New Practitioners’Programme

In the first three years of practice, newly qualified practitioners are required to complete 45 hours of continuing professional development (CPD), including at least nine hours of Advocacy Training and three hours of Ethics (the “New Practitioners’ Programme”).

Compensation level increase for inadequate professional service

The Bar Standards Board has now formally increased the compensation limit in respect of findings of inadequate professional service from £5,000 to £15, 000 following its meeting in May.

The Bar Standards Board would like to welcome Mandie Lavin as Director of the Bar Standards Board. Mandie joined the Board on 23 June from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB), where she was Director of Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs.
