1MCB expands with addition of 13 barristers and two clerks
1MCB Chambers has announced a significant expansion with 13 barristers and two clerks joining from the former Staple Inn Chambers, effective from 3 August 2026.
The new members will bolster Chambers’ established crime, family, immigration, housing and civil teams, further enhancing the breadth of specialist legal services at the multidisciplinary set.
Following the transition, the former Staple Inn members will practise as members of 1MCB, and will be supported by its experienced clerking team to ensure continuity of service and maintain their strong professional relationships. Existing instructions and ongoing cases will continue without interruption.
1MCB confirmed that clients will continue to receive the ‘high standard of service they expect, with the added benefit of access to the wider expertise, broader range of practice areas and enhanced resources available across 1MCB’.
Founded in 1977, and formerly known as 8 KBW, 1MCB said the set remained committed to its longstanding principles of excellence in advocacy, access to justice and representation for all sectors of the community. ‘The members and clerks joining share those values,’ 1MCB added, ‘and their arrival reinforces Chambers’ commitment to delivering high-quality legal representation through a strong, collegiate and multidisciplinary set.
‘We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues and look forward to the contribution they will make as Chambers continues to develop, grow and strengthen its multidisciplinary practice for the benefit of clients, professional users and the communities we serve.’
