The Bar Council’s International Committee is organising a joint business development mission to St Petersburg and Kyiv with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). Both cities are thriving commercial centres where the legal market is not yet saturated by international law firms, and where, during a first mission in 2011, the Bar Council has found a keen interest in the expertise that barristers can offer local law firms.
The programme will include a seminar and networking reception in each jurisdiction to promote links between practitioners from both jurisdictions. There are some UKTI Market Visit Support Grants available to successful applicants. Many chambers would qualify under UKTI’s conditions for these grants. Please contact Chika Muorah, Assistant International Projects Officer (CMuorah@BarCouncil.org.uk) for further details and an application form. The deadline for completed forms to be returned is 25 January 2013. A limited number of speaking slots will be available.
