Mobiles, Masts and Cables

law commission consultation

The rights of communications operators to set up masts and install cables for broadband, mobile internet and telephone and television have come under scrutiny by the Law Commission. It has launched a consultation on the Electronic Communications Code, closing 28 October.

Potential areas for reform include the rights of operators and landowners under the Code, and the rights of third parties; operators’ obligations; the test applied where a landowner objects; the financial award paid to the landowner; and the appropriate forum for resolving disputes.
