Events included a one-day conference for 56 sixth formers at state schools and colleges in Birmingham on ‘How to get to the Bar’, held at St Philips Chambers.
The fifth annual ‘Bar Placement Scheme’, in association with the Social Mobility Foundation and the Inns of Court, took place over the course of the week, giving 57 state school students an insight into the day-to-day life of a barrister.

The students shadowed a barrister, took part in an advocacy training session, competed in an essay competition, observed a trial and heard a talk by Judge Zeidman QC of Snaresbrook Crown Court and Judge Roger Chapple of Inner London Crown Court. The week ended with a reception, hosted by Bar chair, Peter Lodder QC.
