Road traffic offences – Careless driving – Special reasons – Emergency. Sheriff Appeal Court: Refusing an appeal against conviction and sentence by the driver of a police car which collided with another vehicle when on the wrong side of the carriageway whilst answering an emergency call, the drivers of both vehicles being convicted of careless driving, being fined £400 and having four penalty points endorsed on their licences, the court held that the sheriff had not erred in repelling a no case to answer submission and in convicting appellant, nor had he erred in determining that special reasons for non-endorsation of her licence did not exist, or in fining her £400 and endorsing her licence with four penalty points.
