Medical practitioner – Negligence. The second defendant NHS Trust had failed to ensure that a blood test was taken for the claimant prior to him leaving the hospital. The Queen's Bench Division held that had the hospital had been negligent by failing to ensure a blood test was taken, which would have identified that the claimant had been suffering from sepsis. He would, therefore, have undergone the operation needed earlier, and avoided the amputations and permanently disabling consequences suffered.
