Personal injury – Exposure to asbestos – Secondary exposure – Liability – Causation. Court of Session: In an action in which the relatives of a woman who died of mesothelioma sought damages, contending that she contracted mesothelioma because she was exposed to asbestos when it came into her home on the working clothes of her late husband, and that she was so exposed because of the negligence of the defenders, who employed her husband between 1962 and 1971, the court was satisfied that the defenders negligently exposed the deceased to asbestos, and materially increased the risk that she would develop mesothelioma.
