Attorney General's Reference; R v C (2016)

Sentence – Sexual offences against children. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, held that a total sentence of 20 months' imprisonment for three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act, had not been unduly lenient. In the circumstances, a few more months custody to be served by the offender would not have achieved anything, except a more rigid adherence to the Sentencing Council's Definitive Guidelines: Sexual Offences.
