A: I stumbled into financial planning at the tender age of 21. It was 1997 and I had been chosen to do an apprenticeship at Prudential. I was put on a fast-track course for six weeks, which included taking exams to become regulated. From the outset, I enjoyed talking to people and helping them achieve their life goals.
Having lost my mother at a young age, I was extremely comfortable with having serious conversations at an early age, and this put me in a strong position to chat to clients about important financial matters.
A: After facing redundancy in 2011, I reached a pivotal crossroads, and at 35, I thought, ‘Why not now?’ I had a large enough client following, so it felt like the right time to take the plunge. I sounded out clients to get their thoughts and, to my delight, they only had positive feedback. I set up the firm in 2012 and started trading in 2013. I’ve not looked back, and the journey has been nothing short of fulfilling.
A: When you hear of a business with the word ‘finance’ mentioned, you automatically assume that its number one focus is on money. Yes, that’s why Delaunay Wealth Management exists, but it’s not what comes first for my team. We really care about your financial wellbeing.

A: Following my time at Prudential, I joined The Cavanagh Group in 2001, which specialised in dealing with newly qualified barristers and solicitors. The opportunity to immerse myself in the legal profession early in my career was truly a privilege. I continue to work with the same barristers to this day, witnessing their progression into senior roles.
After The Cavanagh Group, I worked for Morgans Independent Advisers and Target Consulting Group Ltd, where I again had exposure to working with barristers in both roles. This connection with the legal profession has been a defining aspect of my professional journey since 2001.
A: Of course. Combining our specialist knowledge is a powerful move and one that we’ll always encourage. Some of my most memorable meetings have been in conjunction with tax and legal advisers. The joined-up approach with all three advisers works as we all want the same outcome.
A: For me, it is meeting like-minded individuals who are open to input on their financial and life goals. I love being able to help them put structure in place. It’s hugely rewarding, and people are always immensely grateful for the help.
