Employment tribunal – Procedure. An employee of the Home Office was suspended and then dismissed without any reason being given to him. He brought a claim for race discrimination before the employment tribunal. He was excluded from participation in the closed proceedings and his application concerning the lack of substantive disclosure was dismissed. The Employment Appeal Tribunal, in dismissing the employee's appeal, held that the tribunal had considered the facts of the case before striking a balance between the public interest in national security and the employee's private interest, and it had not erred in law.
