European Union – Freedom of movement. Article 13(3) of Regulation (EC) No 883/2004, as amended, should be interpreted as meaning that, in order to determine the national legislation applicable under that provision to a person, such as the applicant in the main proceedings, who normally pursued an activity as an employed person and an activity as a self-employed person in different member states, the requirements laid down in arts 14(5b) and 16 of Regulation (EC) No 987/2009 had to be taken into account. The Court of Justice of the European Union so ruled in a preliminary ruling concerning the failure of the applicant to affiliate to the health insurance, pension and unemployment benefit insurance scheme of the Slovak Republic.
