Simukonda v Home Office

Immigration – Deportation. The Queen's Bench Division dismissed the claimant's claim for unlawful detention in circumstances where he had been held, under the Immigration Act 1971, between February 2012 and December 2014. The claimant's conflicting information and lack of co-operation with immigration authorities had led to the inevitable conclusion that inquiries prior to the claimant's planned deportation would take a significant length of time. His detention had not been unreasonable in the circumstances.
