The judge had been entitled to find, on an immigration officer's account, that the first appellant mother had squeezed the second appellant, her daughter, sufficiently tightly that it had reasonably appeared to immigration officers attempting to effect their removal that she had been harming the child. Accordingly, the Court of Appeal, Civil Division, dismissed the mother and child's appeal against the judge's decision to dismiss their claim for damages, alleging that excessive force had been used against them.
