Tort – Harassment. The Queen's Bench Division granted an injunction, under the provisions of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997, in favour of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), against the defendant, who was one of it's members, in circumstances where the defendant had e-mailed and posted online a number of unsubstantiated comments about numerous members of the RICS. It was the quality of relentless persistence of wild allegations against anyone at RICS who entered the defendant's orbit, that transformed what had started as a justifiable grievance into abuse to the point of harassment.
