Criminal law – Appeal against conviction. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, dismissed the defendant's appeal against conviction in a case where he had pleaded guilty to offences under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and the Protection of Children Act 1978. Amongst other things, the defendant failed to establish that there had been any irregularity in relation to his plea as per the principles set out in R v McCarthy ([2015] All ER (D) 113 (Jul)).
