Sentence – Manslaughter. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, held that, following the defendant's (a former Acting Colour Sergeant in the Royal Marines) conviction for murder being quashed and a verdict of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility being substituted (see [2017] All ER (D) 117 (Mar)), the defendant would be sentenced: (i) to be dismissed from the service; and (ii) to serve a determinate sentence of seven years.
