R (on the application of TL) v Chief Constable of Surrey Police

Arrest – Validity of arrest. The Divisional Court allowed the claimant's application for judicial review of the defendant Chief Constable's decision to arrest him. The lawfulness of the claimant's arrest could not be upheld, as it had been unnecessary for the specific purpose of interviewing him and there had been no reasonable grounds necessitating his arrest in order to impose bail conditions or to search his premises.
