R (on the application of Sapkota) v Secretary of State for the Home Department

Immigration – Detention. The claimant Nepalese national was entitled to substantial damages for false imprisonment between 9 November and 14 December 2015, as it had been held that the defendant Secretary of State's decision curtail the claimant's leave to remain and to detain him had been procedurally unfair. The Administrative Court awarded a total of £23,000 for general damages and £658.63 for loss of earnings.
