R (on the application of Qarani) v Secretary of State for the Home Department

Immigration – Detention. The Administrative Court declared that the claimant had been unlawfully detained under immigration powers for a period of 11 months between January and December 2016, given the almost total lack of activity when an Iraqi nationality interview should have been arranged. However, the defendant Secretary of State's change of mind about his nationality had not been an adverse decision which was amenable to judicial review.
