Compensation – Criminal injuries. The Administrative Court dismissed two claims for judicial review concerning whether the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, insofar as it concerned applicants for compensation who had unspent criminal convictions, which resulted in a custodial sentence of community order, was unlawful. The scheme was not in breach of art 1 of the First Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights, alone or read with arts 4 or 14 of the Convention, or Directive (EU) No 2011/36, and it was not ultra vires or irrational.
