Criminal law – Appeal. Applying the Sentencing Council's Health and Safety Offences, Corporate Manslaughter and Food Safety and Hygiene Offences Definitive Guidelines to the facts of the case, the company would be fined £200,000 for the death of a contractor, following a guilty plea. In so doing, the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, quashed the previous fine of £475,000 and to that extent the appeal by the company would be allowed.
