Costs – Order for costs. The defendant coroner had to pay the claimants' reasonable costs from the date she had filed her addendum detailed grounds. The Divisional Court, applying R (on the application of Davies) v Birmingham Deputy Coroner ([2004] 3 All ER 543), held that, from that date onwards, fairness required that the costs should not fall on the claimants' shoulders and, alternatively, from that date onwards, the coroner had ceased to be neutral.
