Sentencing – Child pornography – Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). High Court of Justiciary: In an appeal against sentence by an appellant who pled guilty to offences of taking or permitting to be taken, possessing and distributing or showing indecent images of children, and on whom the sheriff imposed a sentence of 27 months' imprisonment and a SOPO for a period of 10 years, the court held that the length of the custodial sentence was not excessive, however a SOPO was unnecessary in the circumstances and it would therefore be quashed.
