European Union – Copyright. The Court of Justice of the European Union gave a preliminary ruling, deciding, among other things, that art 10(2) of Council Directive (EEC) 93/98, read together with art 13(1) of that directive, should be interpreted as meaning that the terms of protection laid down by that directive did not apply to copyright which had initially been protected by national legislation but which had been extinguished prior to 1 July 1995.
