Criminal evidence and procedure – Unfair trial – Hearsay evidence – Sufficiency of evidence – Judge's charge. High Court of Justiciary: In appeals by two appellants who were convicted of a series of charges involving successful and unsuccessful attempts to force open automated teller machines, the court quashed the appellants' convictions on certain of the charges, holding that while there was sufficient circumstantial evidence to prove the appellants' guilt on several of the charges, there was insufficient evidence to link them to other very similar crimes which occurred a month earlier.
