Landlord and tenant – Termination of tenancy. The judge had not erred in holding that the claimant registered provider of social housing had not been required to give six months' notice, pursuant to s 21(1B) of the Housing Act 1988, in order to determine the defendant's tenancy. The notice provided by the registered provider within the starter period of the tenancy had created a statutory periodic tenancy, and the provisions of s 21(1A) and (1B) had nothing to do with notice in the starter period. Accordingly, the Queen's Bench Division, dismissed the defendant tenant's appeal.
