Elections – Political party – Selection of candidate – 'Freeze date' for constituency candidate selection process – Judicial review. Court of Session: In a judicial review petition in which the petitioner, one of four candidates eligible for selection as the Scottish Labour Party ('SLP') candidate for the Glasgow South West constituency, sought reduction of a decision to set the 'freeze date' for the constituency candidate selection process as 21 March 2018, the freeze date being the date used to determine eligibility of SLP members in the constituency to vote in the selection of the candidate, the court concluded that the petition should be permitted to proceed and the petitioner's motion for interim interdict against the respondents from holding the vote with a freeze date earlier than 4 April 2018 should be granted, as the petitioner had a strong prima facie case for reduction of the decision and the balance of convenience favoured the grant of interim interdict.
