Costs – Assessment. The appellants' appeals against the decisions of the Senior Courts Costs Office were dismissed. The Queen's Bench Division held that the court had no jurisdiction to make orders under the inherent jurisdiction and/or s 68 of the Solicitors Act 1974 in respect of documents which were the property of the solicitor. There was no explicit legal basis for such an order and the authorities provided no basis to suggest that the court had a discretion under the inherent jurisdiction to order delivery up or make other orders in respect of documents which belonged to the solicitor.
