Gazzaz v Secretary of State for the Home Department

Immigration – Appeal. The appellant's mental health problems in the context of his right to respect for family life under art 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights had not provided 'very compelling circumstances' outweighing the strong public interest in deporting the appellant (a foreign criminal in the medium category). The Court of Appeal, Civil Division, accordingly dismissed the appellant's appeal against a deportation order.
