Employment – Unfair dismissal. An employer who had complied with the non-discrimination regime in the Fixed-Term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002, SI 2002/2034, as between permanent staff and those on fixed-term contracts, had not necessarily acted fairly, under s 98(4) of the Employment Rights Act 1996, where the employer had not renewed the employee's fixed-term contract. The Employment Appeal Tribunal so ruled in dismissing the employer's appeal against the employment tribunal's decision that the employee, a doctor whose fixed term contract had not been renewed, had been unfairly dismissed.
