Parent and child – Adoption. Sheriff Court: Refusing an application by a local authority for a permanence order with authority to adopt in relation to 4-year-old boy of mixed Scottish/Algerian heritage, the court concluded that the threshold test for the grant of a permanence order with authority to adopt in a case of non-consensual adoption had been met, however in the court's judgment the child did not need to be made subject to a permanence order because it had not been demonstrated on the evidence that kinship care within his wider family, with his paternal aunt, was not a viable realistic alternative: kinship care was a realistic and viable alternative.
