Bokova v Associated Newspapers Ltd

Libel and slander – Defamatory words. In the claimant's defamation proceedings, two articles published by the defendant in the Mail Online and the Daily Mail meant that there were reasonable grounds to suspect that the claimant, then Director General of UNESCO and a candidate for appointment as United Nations Secretary General, had been guilty of fraud in relation to the appointment of a person as her assistant director general for strategic planning. The Queen's Bench Division determined further meanings in the online article.
