Attorney General's References (R v Huggins and another); R v Gordon

Sentence – Manslaughter. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, on references brought by the Attorney General, under s 36 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988, held that the offenders' sentences of nine years' detention for manslaughter had been, in all the circumstances, unduly lenient. Accordingly, those sentences would be quashed and substituted for a sentence of 15 years' detention in each case.
