Sentence – Sexual offences. After pleading guilty to 17 counts of sexual offending, the offender's extended sentence of 10 years, comprising a custodial element of 6 years and an extended licence period of 4 years, was held unduly lenient following a reference by the Attorney General, under s 36 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. Accordingly, the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, quashed the sentence and substituted an extended sentence of 13 years, comprising a custodial element of 9 years and an extended licence period of 4 years.
