Legal profession – Complaints – Classification of complaints – 'Hybrid' complaints. Court of Session: Allowing an appeal against decisions made by the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission which raised an important issue as to how the Commission should classify complaints, the court held that, in terms of the relevant legislation, the Commission could not classify a single issue complaint as 'hybrid', in the sense of amounting to both a conduct complaint and a services complaint; rather, after appropriate consultation with the relevant professional body, it must categorise it as one or the other, but not both.
