Following a family holiday to Egypt, the claimant suffered from an acute gastrointestinal illness with associated post-infective irritable bowel syndrome. This caused him to have continuous episodes and diarrhoea and vomiting at least a couple of times a month. Each episode lasted 24 hours or more causing him to miss school. Experts advised that the symptoms are likely to persist long term.
