*Rock Advertising Ltd v MWB Business Exchange Centres Ltd

Contract – Construction. The appellant company's appeal against a decision of the Court of Appeal, Civil Division, succeeded, in a dispute concerning an alleged oral agreement to vary a licence agreement, which prescribed that any variation had to be set out in writing to take effect. The Supreme Court held that, among other things, the oral variation in the present case had been invalid, owing to the lack of the writing and signatures prescribed by the licence agreement.
