Criminal law – Child abduction. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, in the absence of a relevant sentencing guideline, provided general sentencing guidance in relation to offences of child abduction. In applying that guidance, the second defendant's appeal against sentence for one offence contrary to s 2 of the Child Abduction Act 1984, would be allowed. In all the circumstances, his sentence would be reduced from 30 months' imprisonment to one of 15 months' imprisonment.
