Criminal law – Appeal. The well-known entertainer, Rolf Harris, who had been convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 1956 s 14, sought to introduce fresh evidence with a view to undermining the credibility of two of the complainants. The Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, held that in respect of count 1, the credibility of an important witness rendered the defendant's conviction unsafe. However, the court dismissed the other appeals against conviction in respect of the eleven other counts relating to the three other victims.
