Criminal law – Trial. The Divisional Court declared that the exclusion of members of the public from the first claimant's trial had been unlawful and, in consequence, no valid proceedings had taken place. In the circumstances, it had plainly not been reasonably necessary to exclude anyone from the court for the purpose of enabling court business to be carried on without interference or delay, or for maintaining public order.
