Seeking to recruit Barristers of 5+ years’ call who specialise in Family Law

Westgate Chambers has an outstanding reputation for excellence across all areas of Family Law. We are committed to maintaining our position as one of the leading and most well established Family Law Chambers in the South East. We retain a strong presence in the fields of Public Law Children, Child Arrangements and Financial Remedies. We have an impressive and expanding client base, whilst members of our clerking team are recommended in the Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 directories for excellence in client service.

Chambers is situated in central Brighton, with our attractive, spacious premises overlooking the Royal Pavilion, a stones throw away from the Family courts, whilst we accept instructions throughout Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, London and beyond should that suit Counsel.

Due to our high volume of instructions in the fields of Public Law Children (Local Authority, Parent and Guardian), Child Arrangements (Private) and Financial Remedies (Private) we are seeking to recruit outstanding practitioners to join our busy Family Teams.

Our Chambers rates are extremely competitive, and we operate a rent cap based on payments received.

From a more personal perspective, we are able to offer any potential applicant a truly enviable work-life balance. Chambers provides an environment in which candidates can build a practice or maintain a practice that suits their interests.

All members’ practices are proactively managed and supported by our excellent clerking team at both a one-to-one and team level.

Chambers is an equal opportunities employer and also has a dedicated Wellbeing Officer, Charmaine Wilson, and matters relating to the Wellbeing of Barristers and Clerks are regularly discussed by the Equality, Wellbeing and Diversity Committee.

Should you wish to find out more, please contact Sean Gould, Chambers Senior Clerk or Maria Hancock, Head of our Family Team, for an initial private and confidential conversation. Formal applications should be made by letter with an accompanying CV, addressed to Senior Clerk, Sean Gould. All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence
