This role comes with a competitive salary, progressive annual leave and entitlement to a pension scheme. For candidates who would be required to relocate to the Bailiwick of Guernsey, we also offer a relocation package to help with the cost of moving over to the Island.

This relocation package offers different solutions depending on an individual’s circumstances.

There are also good schools on Island for those candidates looking to bring their families with them.

This post is within the Civil Law Directorate of the Law Officers of the Crown. The post holder will be a lawyer with significant experience of land planning and/or environmental law, probably with a public law background and experience of working within government.

The post involves both providing legal advice to our government and other public sector clients in respect of non-contentious public law matters (principally in respect of land planning and environmental law, but also in respect of other subject areas) and the drafting of legislation.

Applications will be considered from lawyers with no, or very limited, experience of legislative drafting if they are familiar with working with and advising on legislation, and are willing to learn how to draft: in such a case on the job training support will be provided. Occasionally liaison with civil litigation colleagues may be required in respect of litigious or pre-litigious land planning or environmental matters in respect of which expert subject matter advice is required; the same applies in respect of criminal law matters and prosecutions.
