Kobre & Kim is looking for a solicitor or barrister with significant Trusts and Estates litigation experience to join our BVI office.

You will be required to perform client representation and advisory services in connection with Trusts and Estates matters that arise under or touch on the law the British Virgin Islands and other common law jurisdictions. You will also be required to represent and advise clients in a broad range of asset recovery, insolvency, commercial, and international private client matters. These matters are frequently multi-jurisdictional in nature. As such, and you will be expected to have experience of intellectually demanding cases and to be prepared to travel, sometimes at short notice.

You will be expected to draft pleadings and applications for interim measures, including applications for injunctive relief and freezing orders, at short notice; prepare legal analyses and client updates; draft legal submissions and represent clients in Court; prepare and deal with case-related correspondence; lead case teams; and conduct business development.

You will be working on high-value, high-stakes matters with a cross-border element. You will be focused on “breaking the traditional lawyering mould” by using deep knowledge and cutting-edge techniques to get to the heart of solving the client’s real problem.

We focus solely on disputes and investigations. Our lawyers collaborate on cross-border teams that handle matters involving financial products and services disputes; civil and commercial litigation; judgment enforcement and asset recovery; class actions; criminal defence and regulatory enforcement and internal investigations.

Requirements

  • 4 - 10 years PQE
  • Admitted in the U.K. and/or the BVI or another commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Extensive experience in Trusts and Estates litigation
  • Extensive multi-jurisdictional experience in the firm’s practice areas
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and significant client-facing experience
  • Robust writing, drafting and editing skills
  • You will be expected to work in the office a minimum of four days a week as necessary
