We are seeking an experienced and motivated lawyer to play a key role in delivering significant legislative reform as part of the States of Guernsey's A Place to Grow and Succeed programme.
This is a rare opportunity to work on high-profile legislation that will directly impact the lives of children, families, and vulnerable people across the Bailiwick.
The Role
You will lead on the drafting and development of legislation and associated legal instruments relating to:
- Children's services and social care
- Children in care and care leavers
- Private fostering
- Adoption law reform
- International child protection conventions
- Related policy and implementation matters
Alongside legislative drafting, you will provide legal advice to senior stakeholders and support the development and delivery of policy objectives.
What We're Looking For
We would like to hear from lawyers who have:
- At least 5 years' PQE (exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered)
- Proven legislative drafting or complex legal drafting experience
- Knowledge of children's law and/or public law
- Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with senior officials, policy teams and legal colleagues
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and excellent judgement
