Supreme Court report

In the first six months since opening in October 2009, the Supreme Court has heard 43 appeals and given 42 judgments, according to its first annual report and accounts which were published in June.


The report reveals that the Supreme Court has 39 permanent employees (including seven judicial assistants employed on fixed term contracts between September and July), and its net operating costs amounted to £11.4 million. The costs of justices and staff were £2.7 million; other programme costs were £12.1 million. The operating income was £3.4 million. The Supreme Court website was visited by 160,000 people.
