Practising certificate fee reform

Profession

Barristers are broadly happy with the practising certificate fee as it exists, according to new research.

The Bar Council is considering moving to a more simplified fee structure, and commissioned IFF Research to look into barristers’ attitudes towards the fees.
Interviews conducted with 20 barristers and chambers managers representing a cross-section of the profession in terms of practice area, employment status, experience and gender revealed that the vast majority were either indifferent to, or broadly happy with, the current system.
