The CPD Steering Group reported to the Board at its meeting on 22 March 2012 that, in the current complex and changing situation, more work was needed on the CPD proposals. It was recommended to the Board that implementation of any new system (if and when approved) should be postponed to January 2014 or later.

This is for a variety of reasons related to both internal and external factors. The CPD Steering Group is expected to continue its work in July 2012 and further consideration to both the consultation responses and other professions’ CPD systems will be given.

In the meantime, the obligations of barristers to undertake CPD, keep records and comply with our procedures remain as they were last year.
