Barrister Connect

The Bar Council and the Bar Standards Board have launched a new online system for renewing practising certificates. The renewal process is now called ‘Authorisation to Practise’ and is accessed via ‘Barrister Connect’, an easy-to-use site at  www.barristerconnect.org.uk.

Training for the future

The Legal Services Board (LSB) is hosting five seminars on education and training in the context of the changing legal services market.
The first seminar on 29 March covered pupillage and training contracts. The seminars will feed into the general review of legal education and training being led by the Bar Standards Board and other professional regulators. For details: wwwlegalservicesboard.org.uk.

Bar Council meeting crèche

The March 3 Bar Council meeting was the first one to provide crèche facilities for Bar Council members.  A professional childcare firm was engaged to supervise the children who were given free rein of the seventh floor conference room.  Due to late notice, only 2 children took advantage of this on March 3, both with the same father.  It is hoped that more will take advantage of the free facilities at the meeting on 14 April 2012.
