Now in its fourth year, the International Professional Development Grant Programme offers financial assistance to members of participating Specialist Bar Associations (SBAs) or Circuits who are of seven years’ Call or less, fully qualified (i.e. post pupillage) and in self-employed of employed practice. The grant is intended to assist applicants in participating in international legal events and conferences of their choice. The event must take place before the end of 2012, and successful applicants must demonstrate that it will contribute to their professional development and legal practice.

The following SBAs/Circuits are participating: the Criminal Bar Association, Commercial Bar Association, Family Law Bar Association, London Common Law and Commercial Bar Association, Northern Circuit, Personal Injury Bar Association and Technology and Construction Bar Association.

They fund the grant programme together with the Bar Council Scholarships Trust. The cost of participating in the event is shared equally between the applicant, their SBA or Circuit and the Trust. The third and final application deadline for the 2012 grant programme is 17:00 on 7 September.
